Kathy Eyster's PDF's - Digital Black and White conversions from color

I was very fortunate to be one of the attendees at Kathy Eyster's presentation on converting digital color files to black and white. Believe it or not, there is a major difference between just flipping one's camera to black and white settings, taking the photograph vs. taking a color photograph and actually converting it to black and white.  In her presentation Kathy demonstrated to us the differences and the converted photographs had life/depth where the simple black and white photos appeared flat and unappealing.

Kathy was extremely kind in creating PDF's and allowing me to share them with you here. Granted, reading the PDF's isn't the full experience we enjoyed but it may go a long way to helping you in your continuing quest for the best Black & White photograph you can create. Please note that not all Photo editing software is covered in this presentation. Good news is that the theories presented will more than likely translate to most software. You can Google more on the subject and more than likely find Youtube tutorials on the same.

Kathy Eyster is a VERY well known Photography artist and teacher here in the Missoula Montana area. She teaches professional classes at Rocky Mountain School of Photography, beginner classes at the Lifelong Learning center in Missoula (very reasonable class prices considering the professional instruction one receives) and graciously gives tips and tricks on her site (see links below) and in club meetings, when she can find the time.
