What the heck is Drupal and why use it?

Yeah, I know everyone says that Drupal is a Content Management System (CMS) used to create dynamic websites. But really, what does all that mean? "If you can use a word processor (or Facebook/Texting) you can use Drupal for your website". Well, that's actually as basic as it gets.

How to thwart your site being hacked - the basics.

Let's face it, having your hard work (your site) being hacked and spewing out ads for fake Rolex watches, fake Fendi handbags, Viagra and plain old porn is like a rape. It's an invasion no matter how you look at it. In fact you may not even know your site has been hacked until you get a notice from someone like Google saying your site has been removed from their search index because your site may have been compromised! So how does one avoid this right from the start?
